This summer has been all about the ability of sport to unite nations, and the restorative powers of healthy competition. But the Pursuit Of Perfection: The Politics of Sport exhibition at the South London Gallery scrapes away the glossy surface of the world of physical activities to reveal the darkness beneath. Aleksandra Mir’s spectacular Triumph piles 2,529 sporting trophies into a gigantic morass, and other works explore football, the Olympics, and baseball. Older kids will love the way the exhibition dares to suggest that not all sport is the wholesome activity that the media portrays. There’s a free exhibition tour on Saturday at 3pm.
