Messing About

The river Thames is one of London’s greatest attractions, but is often overlooked. But, if the Jubilee flotilla whetted (or wetted) your appetite for more of its watery charms,  you’re in luck. The Great River Race pits over 300 crews in all kinds of boats against each other. Dragon boats, celtic longboats, race skerries, and jolly boats cram the river in a colourful contest of skill and strength. The schedule for the race is here – we recommend watching from Tower Bridge for spectacle, or to catch the end of the race in Richmond, where there will be family fun on offer (and loud cannons firing as the boats cross the finish line).
