Cockney Walkabout

Events in London don’t get much more traditional than the annual Pearly Kings and Queens Harvest Festival. The unofficial royal family of the East End get decked out in their finest button-covered suits and spangly hats for a knees up. Starting at Guildhall Yard, there will be donkeys and carts, mayors and ‘traditional entertainment’ (we’re hoping it’s a Chas-and-Dave-style singalong) then a parade to St Mary-le-Bow church for a harvest festival service. We’re going to take our 2-year-old kids for their favourite treat; a pint of cockles (yes, really).
