Freaky Folding

Origami is fascinating and extremely clever, but can be a little dull and staid (“Oh! Another kneeling crane! Fascinating!”). Artist Marc Hagan-Guirey, or Paper Dandy to his friends, is tearing up the world of paper folding. This exhibition at the One And A Half gallery in Islington features his wafer-thin renditions of iconic locations featured in cult horror movies; The Overlook Hotel from The Shining, 112 Ocean Avenue from The Amityville Horror. Obviously, kids won’t get all the references, but the creations are strong enough to fascinate them regardless. By day, they’re exhibited as plain white forms, but at night, are illuminated spookily by lightboxes. Get there as the sun sets to get the best of both worlds. Free. More here
