Oh Christmas Tree

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas (as you may have noticed from all the festive events in this week’s newsletter!). Traditional to the point of being a cliche, a glimpse of the Trafalgar Square tree, which is lit next Thursday 6 December, is still pretty much an essential part of Christmas in London. Choirs tag-team beneath the sparkling spruce through the season, so you’ll be hard pressed to miss out on hearing something festive. It’s a great place to end a kid-friendly Christmas walk through the city. Perhaps start off in Hyde Park at Winter Wonderland (if you can resist the pestering for hot chocolates and rides), take in Selfridges windows, Mayfair’s classy displays, Regent’s Street lights, and Piccadilly Circus’ hustle. And finish with a bag of chestnuts and an ooh at the tree. It’s also a very handy place from which to get a bus home. More here
