This year’s fabulous BBC Stargazing Live series with Brian Cox and Dara O Briain starts on January 8, so now is the time to prepare. We adore the show – it makes planet-and-star-spotting more accessible for kids, inspires us to get out and contemplate the universe and has Cox floppy-fringing and goofing about (all of these things make us happy).
Unfortunately, all tickets have been allocated for the Greenwich live event on the 10th, but you could join the Baker Street Irregular Astronomers in Regent’s Park this Tuesday, or hold a stargazing party in your garden or local park. The long winter nights mean that you can get started early in the evening. Download a stargazing pack here, wrap up in a big coat, borrow a pair of binoculars or telescope, and (most importantly) grab a cup of hot chocolate, turn up the TV, and get going! Let’s hope for clear skies. Galleries, links, FAQs and tons more here
