Wassail Away

Wassailing is an old English tradition dating back hundreds, if not thousands of years. But it gets brought screamingly up-to-date in North West London every year, at the Willesden Green Wassail. But rather than offering tributes to fruit trees (there aren’t many of those in the middle of London), participants wish luck and prosperity to local independent shop owners. We love this idea. Founded by storyteller Rachel Rose Reid, the event brings together poets, musicians, and performers who will do shouty performances, bang drums, and generally cause mischief on the streets of the area. Plus there are refreshments courtesy of social enterprise company Punch and Juicy. Free. Meet 2 for 2.30 at Willesden Green Tube. Free More here
