February 2 is World Wetlands Day, which aims to raise awareness of the swampy, muddy environments that birds, nature, and children in wellies love. Of course, in London, we are hugely lucky to have the London Wetland Centre in Barnes, a proper haven for wildlife that’s still easily accessible from the city. Why not take a trip there to celebrate the day? We’re suckers for the otter feeding and guided tours. Prices aren’t dirt cheap (around £11 for an adult, £6.50 for a child, kids under 4 free), but you are supporting their ongoing conservation work and it’s a great, whole-day experience. Otherwise, the trust’s webcams bring beavers, badgers and swans right onto your laptop (we love the fact that the Rushy webcam is down due to some rabbits chewing through the cables)!
