May the Force

The start of May is high season for folk dancers. Morrisers, hoodeners, Maypole twirlers are all in demand to celebrate the start of fine weather and budding blossom. This Saturday, Cecil Sharp House in Camden will come alive to the sound of stomping feet, jingling bells and lots of laughter as their May in a Day festival takes place. There’s a ceilidh and Maypole dancing, storytelling and singing, plus a chance to make your own Jack in the Green costume to wear in the grand parade at the end of the day. It’ll be enormous fun, very authentic, and there’ll be more than a sniff of The Wicker Man. Adults £6 Kids £4, under 2s free. Saturday 2-5pm. More here
