Canal Plus

Last year, to celebrate the Royal Jubilee, hundreds of east Londoners floated down the Regent’s Canal in inflatable dinghies. The poor man’s flotilla was such fun, they’re going to do it all over again this year, only bigger and better. This crowdfunded event, called Canalival, will feature crafts from art boats to lilos, and it’ll all take place to the sounds of live ska, jazz and jive bands. We wouldn’t recommend taking part and getting on the water with kids in tow (obviously), but it’s going to be a grand spectacle, so bag yourself a good viewpoint on a bridge or bench. The event starts at Gainsborough Studios and floats down to London Fields. Free. Saturday 12pm. More here
