Be a Menace

There’s something gloriously old-fashioned about the Beano, yet kids still chuckle as they read it (we’ve heard ours doing proper chortles as they pore over their copy). The comic has survived 75 years of gnashing, trashing and bashing, and the Southbank centre is throwing an an enormous party to celebrate. The Beanotown House will be open all summer; visit the Prank Academy, pore over their archive of issues, and snap a picture of yourself in the Beano photobooth. It all kicks off this weekend with a series of free events; learn the art of decoupage, join in with Beano-themed arts and crafts workshops, and have a jig at the Fun Kids disco in the Clore Ballroom (you might even hear yourself on the radio). Say hello to Billy Whizz and Minnie the Minx from us! Free. All weekend, various times. More here
