Secret Spaces

There are some places in London we’ve always wanted to explore. So many leafy spaces in the capital are fenced, and gardens only glimpsed through locked gates. Those doors are unlocked this weekend, in a celebration of communal spaces. Highlights include the sharp, formal lawns of Eaton Square, which is hosting a Punch and Judy show, Cable Street‘s community garden, which will have kids activities throughout the weekend, the tours of the medicinal plants of the Royal College of Physicians garden, the unexpected allotments slap-bang in the middle of Regent’s Park (kids activities all weekend), and the flamboyant Roof Gardens in Kensington (home to four flamingos). Sadly, all the tickets to have a dig around the back yard of 10 Downing Street have now been allocated. It’s going to be a beautiful weekend, and we can’t think of a better way to spend some of it than taking a peek at these secret bits of London. Let us know what you find. Adults £10, under 12s free. Saturday and Sunday. More here
