Bluebells in Perivale

There’s nothing more exciting than exploring a part of London that no-one usually sees. Perivale Wood is a nature reserve with a large chunk of ancient oak forest, plus some scrubby bits and pasture and some streams and ponds. Once a year, on the last Sunday in April, its mysterious gates creak open, and the public are allowed in. Just like Wonka’s factory, minus the chocolate, and plus a whole load of twigs. It’s this time of year that the bluebells are at their most beautiful. This year they’re showing off their brand-new vistor’s centre. UB6. Free. Sunday April 24. 10am–4.30pm More here
