Our kids are fascinated by graphic design. It’s a constant in their lives – they’re surrounded by ads, logos are more important than ever, cartoons are the most popular shows on kids TV, and even choosing a font to use on their laptop is a life-or-death decision. Pick Me Up is a massive, annual graphic arts festival that is aimed at kids as much as design dudes with thick-rimmed glasses and fixed-wheel bikes. There are some amazing children’s workshops; create a printed planter, ‘face paint’ balloons, and make 3D collages this weekend, or try digital animation with Okido, and draw skateboard graphics next. Perfect for little hipsters and their design-loving parents. Events across the weekend and beyond check here for details All workshops have limited spaces and are free with a festival ticket, which can be booked on the Somerset House website (£10.00/£8 concessions; festival pass £17.50; under 12s are free with no booking required).
