If you like to ride your bicycle, then this weekend, London is the place for you. The event kicks off on Friday in Queen Elizabeth Olympic park with a frenzy of races and family activities. Then, on Saturday, from 9am to 4pm, over eight miles of roads around central London will be closed to motorised traffic, and pedal power will reign supreme.  Take out your bikes, scooters, trikes or balance bikes, and ride around the route that takes in the Bank Of England, St Paul’s and Buckingham Palace (wave to the Queen). There’s no need to try to cycle the whole route; start and finish where you want. There will be entertainment along the way including music you can ring your bell along to, ‘customise your tabard with glitter’ workshops, and balance bike racing for toddlers.   – the biggest event is in Green Park, with stunt riders doing tricks on replicas of London landmarks.  Families are advised to cycle in the morning to avoid the post-lunch rush. Register here At 5pm, head to St James’ Park to watch some of the speediest cyclists in the country compete in 5.5km races around London. On Sunday there are more races, finishing in the Mall. Remember, there will be extensive road closures across the city this weekend, so if you’re headed elsewhere, check ahead. More here
